Two viewing areas. One pair.
Bifocal lenses
Two distinct lens areas, usually for distance and reading, with a visible dividing line.
How do bifocals work?
A typical bifocal has a larger distance area and a smaller reading segment below. You look through the part intended for the task you’re doing.
What should I consider?
There is a visible boundary between the areas. A standard distance-and-reading bifocal does not provide the gradual intermediate range of a varifocal, so screen tasks are worth discussing.
Why does fitting matter?
The frame and reading segment need to sit appropriately for you. We’ll discuss the design, take the required measurements and explain what to expect as you get used to your glasses.
